Suical
A system to help identify suspected depression or suicidal thoughts in individuals via social media.
The suical system looks for identifiers or patterns, to provide help to people who cannot advocate for themselves or to those experiencing depression or anxiety, before it’s too late.
Motivation
- Many people have created a façade of happiness.
- This deception can be very misleading.
- Social media does not always mirror a person’s reality but there might be a hidden pattern.
Aim
The system would make it easier to identify and provide help to people that are not speaking up but are depressed and people think they are fine.
This would make it possible to provide help before it is too late.
How?
- Look into real life cases of suicides and depression
- what were they posting online?
- Is there a common pattern amongst all or some?
- Does social media help or affect mental health?
- How and why?
- What social platform users are least depressed and why?
- What social platform users are most depressed and why?
- Is it the platform that is making them depressed?
- Or other external factors but they turn to social media for distraction?
- Does the distraction work?
